Does Hayat Dental offer same-day emergency appointments?+
Yes. We keep urgent appointment slots free each day for dental emergencies. Call us as early as you can on 02 9030 0247. Same-day care depends on availability and your clinical needs.
Can I walk in, or do I need to call first?+
You are welcome to walk in during our opening hours. We recommend calling first so we can prepare for your arrival and keep your wait as short as possible.
Are you open on weekends for emergencies?+
We are open Saturday mornings from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm and can see emergency patients during that time, subject to availability. We are closed on Sundays.
What should I do if I have dental pain after hours?+
Use the steps on this page to stay comfortable and call us on 02 9030 0247 when we open at 8:00 am. If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling spreading towards your eye or throat, or heavy bleeding, call 000 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department.
What should I do if my tooth is knocked out?+
Pick the tooth up by the white crown, never the root. If it is dirty, rinse it briefly in milk. For an adult tooth, gently place it back in the socket if you can; if not, keep it in milk. Do not reinsert a child’s baby tooth. Contact us straight away.
Can you repair a broken denture or a loose orthodontic wire?+
Yes. We carry out emergency denture repairs and can ease the irritation from a broken or poking orthodontic wire. Bring the denture and any broken pieces with you, and do not try to glue it yourself.
What counts as a dental emergency?+
A dental emergency is any problem that needs prompt care to relieve severe pain, stop bleeding, treat swelling or infection, or save a tooth. If you are unsure, call us, and we will advise you.
How much does emergency dental treatment cost?+
Cost depends on what the problem is and what treatment it needs. An emergency examination lets us diagnose the issue. We then give you a written quote covering all costs before any treatment begins.
Is emergency dental treatment covered by health funds?+
Most health funds provide some cover for emergency dental treatment, though the amount varies. We accept all major health funds and use HICAPS for on-the-spot claiming.
How can I manage tooth pain before my appointment?+
Paracetamol or ibuprofen taken as directed can take the edge off, if they are suitable for you; ask a pharmacist if you are unsure. Rinse gently with warm salt water, and hold a cold pack wrapped in a cloth against your cheek for 15 to 20 minutes if there is swelling.
Do you treat children for dental emergencies?+
Yes. We see children for dental emergencies and take a calm, gentle approach to help them feel at ease during what can be a stressful time.
