01
His upper front tooth sat out of line, several teeth were out of position, and his gums were painful, bleeding and infected.
He also showed more gum than he liked when he smiled, which made his teeth look short.
02
The gums needed to be treated and stable before any cosmetic work. Moving the teeth into better positions first would also mean less tooth needed to be prepared for veneers later.
03
Health came first: gum treatment to clear the infection, then a gum lift to reduce the gum on show. Only then did we move to straightening and cosmetic work.
Straightening with Invisalign before veneers meant the veneers could be thinner and less tooth had to be prepared. Appointments were planned around his military travel.

1
Gum treatment
We treated the gum infection and inflammation first, so the gums were healthy before anything else.
2
Gum lift
A gum lift reduced the amount of gum on show, so the upper teeth looked better proportioned.
3
Invisalign
Clear aligners moved the out-of-position teeth into line.
4
Porcelain veneers and whitening
Ten porcelain veneers were placed on the upper teeth, and the lower teeth were whitened to match.

COMMON QUESTIONS
A procedure that removes or reshapes a small amount of gum so more of each tooth shows. It can make teeth look longer and better proportioned in a gummy smile.
Veneers and other cosmetic work need healthy, stable gums to look right and last. Treating infection first also protects your long-term oral health.
Yes. Invisalign needs fewer in-chair visits than braces, and stages can be planned around your availability, as they were here.
